Logan Heights Veterans Memorial graphic

The Monument:

Our vision is for the monument in Chicano Park to be a place where the Logan Heights community can go and stand in peace to remember and pay tribute to our fallen heroes. The monument would:

  • Be reflective of Logan Heights Veterans from all services and conflicts
  • Blend in with the surroundings of Chicano Park
  • Will not favor one ethnic background
  • Non-gender
  • No names
  • Non-commercial memorial
  • Size and shape is determined by money collected
  • Will make no political statement
  • Be maintenance free and self-sufficient

The monument should be designed by someone in the community. It would be especially meaningful if the artist was a war veteran; however, these are not requirements. Designs will be submitted to a committee where they will be examined and selected by the committee. This is a community project and we seek community input and consensus on the specifics of the monument.

We are currently accepting designs for the Logan Heights Veterans Memorial. Please submit your idea, drawings or design to
Frank C. Peralta either by mail or email.

The Mexican-American has been involved in every American conflict dating back to WWII. The Mexican-American Veteran has promoted patriotism with their contribution to our proud Hispanic heritage. We would like to promote patriotism and to recognize the contributions made by our hometown Mexican-American military men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. We do not glorify war or promote militaristic solutions for all the world problems.
